A biopic detailing the life of The Who's drummer Keith Moon is in development, it has been revealed.

Billboard reports that a new deal between Exclusive Media and Da Vinci Media Ventures has been signed with the Moon biopic the first feature length to be developed under the new agreement. Already in 2013 Exclusive Media has been behind films such as Rush and Metallica's Through The Never.

Roger Daltrey of The Who is believed to have been collaborating on the film, which does not yet have a title. Exclusive is reported to be commissioning a writer to pen the script for the film, which is likely to be a European-based co-production.

"The Keith Moon project is one close to my heart so I am excited to reinvigorate it and grateful to Wendy, Toby and Da Vinci for their enthusiastic support," Daltrey said in a statement.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that The Who will scale down their operation in two years time, when they will mark their 50th anniversary.

This summer, The Who played their 1973 double album 'Quadrophenia' in full alongside their classic hits at a string of arena dates around the UK and Ireland, after a big US tour.

Keith Moon died in 1978, age 32, following a drug overdose.
