He performed his verse from the late rapper's new, posthumous album at the event

Kanye West made a surprise appearance at an XXXTentacion tribute event in Miami on Thursday night (December 6).

During art fair ArtBasel, the RC Cola Plant held a release party for XXXTentacion’s new, posthumous album ‘Skins’. During the event, guests like Lil Wayne and Trippie Redd showed up to pay tribute to the late rapper, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy.

According to reports, West turned up during the record’s second playback and performed his verse from its track ‘One Minute’ over the recording. Onfroy’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, also appeared onstage during West’s performance.

Wayne also performed at the event, playing his collaboration with Onfroy, ‘Don’t Cry’, which featured on his own, long-awaited album, ‘Tha Carter V’.

In the days before ‘Skins’ was released, it was revealed West’s verse on ‘One Minute’ defended XXXTentacion. The lyrics in the ‘Ye’ star’s section included the line: “Now your name is tainted by the claims they paintin’/The defendant is guilty, no one blames the plaintiff.”

XXXTentaction was shot and killed in June while leaving a motorcycle dealership in Broward County, Florida. He was 20-years-old.

Four men have been arrested and indicted on charges relating to the rapper’s death. CCTV footage that police say shows the killers “tracking” the musician was released earlier this year. In it, some of the suspects could be seen walking past the rapper in Riva Motorsports and, later, approaching his car with guns drawn.
