'Star Wars' actor Adam Driver will host the first episode

Kanye West will be the first musical guest on the new season of Saturday Night Live, it has been confirmed.

The long-running US comedy show will return after its annual summer break on September 29.

West will appear on the first episode of the new series alongside guest host and Star Wars actor Adam Driver. The tracks the rapper will perform have not yet been confirmed.

He has previously appeared on SNL six times over the years. Earlier this year, he became the subject of one of the sketches on the Donald Glover-hosted episode. During a spoof version of horror film A Quiet Place, Glover and friends couldn’t keep silent after the actor and rapper shared news of West’s divisive tweets and then-new track ‘Lift Yourself’ with them.

West shared a clip of the sketch on his Twitter page, signifying his approval through a series of emoji.

Meanwhile, the star recently previewed a new clip of music on his Instagram story. The short snippet soundtracked videos of him getting in a white car and then leaving the same vehicle and entering a studio space. It featured West singing in falsetto and using lots of vocal effects.

He has also teased that a sequel to his ‘Watch The Throne’ collaboration with Jay-Z could be on the way. “throne2 coming soon,” he tweeted. Previously, West had said there would “never be a ‘Watch The Throne 2’.”
