Channel 4 have announced plans for a series of nights dedicated to music programming, including Rock Night hosted by Alice Cooper.

Cooper's Rock Night will include a broadcast of 50 Years Of Rock Excess: Amps, Whips And Rebel Riffs, a music documentary detailing the origins of the rock genre, focusing on bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme will be among the talking heads in the documentary, alongside Bill Ward and Andrew WK.

Queens Of The Stone Age's gig at the iTunes Festival from earlier this year will also be broadcast in full, alongside Queen's Wembley performance from 1986.

Jake Bugg, meanwhile, will perform acoustically as part of Get Folked: The Great Folk Revival, More4's folk music night. Bugg will discuss the resurgence of folk music alongside comedian Ade Edmondson, Bob Geldof, Frank Turner and Billy Bragg. There will also be iTunes Festival performances from Bugg and The Lumineers.

A second night of music in December will focus on the role of gay clubs on the music scene of the past 40 years. Queer As Pop will feature contributions from Nile Rodgers, Paul Oakenfold, Jake Shears and Erasure's Andy Bell with Chic and Nile Rodgers' iTunes Festival performance and Kylie Minogue's 2006 Showgirl Tour from London.
