Glastonbury is releasing an official book for its 50th anniversary
Further contributions will also come from Michael and Emily Eavis, Billy Bragg and Guy Garvey
An official Glastonbury festival book featuring contributions from Jay-Z, Dolly Parton, Chris Martin and Noel Gallagher is being released ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Somerset bash.
Entitled Glastonbury: 50, the book is set to be released in October 2019, with contributions also coming from Michael and Emily Eavis, Billy Bragg, Guy Garvey Caitlin Moran, John Humphreys, John Cooper Clarke and Lauren Laverne.
“This book has been 50 years in the making,” Michael Eavis told SomersetLive.”There really are so many images and memories that tell the incredible story of the festival’s five decades here at Worthy Farm, and we’re honoured that so many brilliant people have helped us to collect the most iconic ones together for this book.”
Glastonbury doesn’t officially turn 50 until 2020, but publishers Trapeze have decided to release the book a couple of months early.
A spokesman for the publisher said: “In 2020, Glastonbury turns 50 years old, and Glastonbury: 50 celebrates this momentous occasion with a beautifully designed, illustrated book full of exclusive and never-before-seen photos, archive material and artwork.
“The 60,000-word book captures the magic of this unique festival with stories and interviews looking back at memorable events and treasured moments from across the Festival’s colourful history.”
After a fallow year in 2018, Glasto will return to Worthy Farm from June 26-30, next year. The line-up is yet to be announced, but Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, ABBA, Bruce Springsteen, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney are all among rumoured potential headliners.
Meanwhile, Emily Eavis recently shot down rumours that Madonna, Fleetwood Mac or Led Zeppelin would headline next year.
The first batch of Glasto tickets went on sale earlier this month, with coach ticket packages selling out first before general tickets sold out in just over 30 minutes.
A further re-sale for Glasto tickets will be made available in April 2019.
The special edition book will be published by Trapeze and is set for release in October 2019.
