Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has posed naked for a calendar in aid of a cancer charity.

The 78-year-old appears as 'Mr June' in next year's Legends Of Somerset calendar clutching just a skimpy pair of denim shorts to protect his modesty. He is among 12 local businessmen and celebrities including Mick Jagger's brother Chris, Wells town crier Len Sweales and Shepton "rock flock" sculptor Jeff Body who posed in the calendar for the Macmillan cancer charity.

The shoot took place at the stone circle on the festival site at Pilton, Somerset. Photographer Jason Bryant, who organised the calendar, told the Western Daily Press: "He was a great model and didn't hesitate in getting his kit off. But then he has got a great set of legs for a man of his age."

The calendar was set up in memory of Michele Stiling, wife of Wells Rugby Club player Wayne Stiling, who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. Eavis' father also died of bowel cancer and the festival organiser himself was treated for the same condition 18 years ago.

Last month, Eavis spoke at the Oxford Union at the prestigious university's debating society to talk to students about the festival. He previously spoke at the Union in February 2004, where he confirmed Paul McCartney's headline festival slot for later that year.

Meanwhile, his daughter Emily recently said that she is close to confirming the names of the first two headliners for Glastonbury 2014. Speaking to NME, she said she is near to securing the first two headline acts and has "a few options" for the final spot, commenting: "We're definitely getting close to securing two and there are a few options for the third. It's annoying really as there are lots of great bands touring next year and we'd love to have them all. But rest assured, it's going to be one hell of a show - maybe even the best yet!"

Bookmakers have been taking odds on the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Prince and David Bowie to take the headline slots in 2014. Foo Fighters are currently favourites to fill the coveted Saturday night Pyramid Stage slot, whilst rumours of a 'Definitely Maybe' 20th anniversary reunion have given Oasis odds of 10/1 to make an appearance.
