"You don't even know how much it means to me now/ That you were the first man that really loved me."

These are the words from the "proudest song I've ever written in my life," according to Camila Cabello. On the heels of releasing her sophomore studio album Romance, Cabello chatted on New Music Daily with Zane Lowe on Apple Music's Beats 1 on Tuesday (Dec. 10). Of all the album's heartfelt moments, she reflects on her song "First Man" with the fondest memories of her father Alejandro Cabello.

"I remember I was in the studio and I had to literally go to the bathroom to just cry ... and every time I listened to the song and I picture my dad's face, I just lose it," she told the radio host during the live in-studio interview.

Lyrics like "I know you'll stay up late just waitin' for me" reassure the 22-year-old singer's bond with her father will always serve as the foundation for her first serious, romantic relationship. She channels the protectiveness that comes out when a daughter brings a boy home to her family for the first time and the joy intermingled with melancholy when a father walks her down the aisle at her wedding.

"My dad hadn't seen me dating or whatever because I was single for a really long time, and I think that when I was in my first relationship, he was just like very sensitive about it," she told Lowe. "He was like, 'Whoa, wow. Like my, my little girl is growing up.'"

According to Cabello, "First Man" will age like fine "wine": "I think when I'm like 90 years old and if someday I'm just listening back to my songs, I think it's just going to get more and more important to me as time goes on."
