Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams, Metallica, and more to play Chris Cornell tribute show

A posthumous music video starring the singer's son is also on its way

A huge tribute show in memory of Chris Cornell has been announced for next January, featuring huge names such as Metallica, Ryan Adams and Foo Fighters.

The Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and Audioslave frontman was found dead in his hotel room on May 17, 2017 aged 52. Former members of his old bands will also play the gig, named ‘I Am The Highway’.

It’s due to take place on January 16, 2019 at the Los Angeles Forum. Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the event, with a number of special guests also promised.

Yesterday, meanwhile, it was announced that Chris Cornell’s son will star in a music video for ‘When Bad Does Good’, a track originally released a year after the singer’s death.

The new video is to be released this Friday, November 16, and was teased with a 15-second clip via the official Chris Cornell Twitter account.

It coincides with the release of a new career-spanning boxset, from which the track was originally released.

Also out on Friday, the boxset features a 17-track self-titled album and a 62-track limited edition deluxe box set that includes both his solo work and songs with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden and Audioslave.

Earlier this month, the surviving members of Soundgarden spoke about the future of the band.

In the interview, the band hinted that they may perform together in the future.

Matt Cameron said: “We’re just still taking our time and giving ourselves space to process everything…We would certainly love to try to continue to do something, figure out something to do together.”

Ben Shepherd added: “On a personal level…we haven’t even gotten a chance to hang out, just us three, yet… We’re going through natural healing, then thinking about the natural next step.”
