At around the same time on Saturday, Lee -- who's known for such classic films as "Do the Right Thing," "Jungle Fever" and "Malcolm X" -- also tweeted that he and Eminem would be collaborating on a new project.
"Detroit's Finest EMINEM And Me Working Together On His Short a Film.Historic. Who Woulda Thunk It," said Lee, who earlier last week mentioned via Twitter that he was in Detroit but didn't say why.
"Headlights," which features .Fun frontman Nate Ruess, would be the latest music video from Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last November.
The rapper recently shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the music video for his Hot 100 hit "The Monster," featuring Rihanna. The superstars, who also enjoyed success with the 2010 hit "Love the Way You Lie," are scheduled to co-headline a handful of U.S. stadium concerts in August
