Eminem’s ‘curtain call’ becomes longest-charting hip-hop album ever
Slim Shady continues breaking records.
The latest Eminem accolade comes in the form of Curtain Call: The Hits, which has become the longest-charting hip-hop album in the history of the Billboard 200, according to Detroit Metro Times.
Released in 2005, the greatest hits collection debuted at No. 1 and went on to spend 350 weeks on the Billboard 200.
Much of Curtain Call’s success comes from the ultra-successful singles that appear on the album, including “The Way I Am,” “My Name Is,” “Stan,” and “Lose Yourself,” among others. But the LP also featured new songs like “Fack,” “When I’m Gone,” and “Shake That.”
Overall, Eminem has released seven major label studio albums, starting with his 1999 debut, The Slim Shady LP. Each of these projects went platinum multiple times, with The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show going diamond.
According to Detroit Metro Times, The Eminem Show and Recovery both rank high on the longest-charting rap albums list, spending 329 and 288 weeks on the chart, respectively.
Years after being released, Eminem’s albums continue popping up all over the Billboard 200. Currently, The Eminem Show sits at No. 59, Curtain Call lands at No. 67, Recovery appears at No. 156, and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 strikes at No. 178.
