New album will feature Craig David, Stefflon Don, Rita Ora and Marina And The Diamonds

Clean Bandit have revealed they have scrapped a collaboration with Elton John which was set to appear on their new album ‘What Is Love?’.

The LP, which features Craig David, Stefflon Don, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding and Marina And The Diamonds, is the follow-up to the band’s 2014 debut ‘New Eyes’ and is due for release on November 30.

Speaking to The Guardian, band member Jack Patterson explained why the collaboration didn’t make the final cut.

”We realised there was a sound developing in a certain part of the Venn diagram of the album and we wanted to push that. It was kind of this tropical, plastic-y, mournful sound, whereas his [John’s} songs were more from the [our hit single] ‘Rather Be’ world,” he said.

Previously, band member Grace Chatto had talked up his collaboration saying: ”He was so funny! He sat down at the piano and didn’t stop playing for the whole day, just constant ideas flowing. He was telling loads of jokes at the same time.”

Elsewhere, on the album Rita Ora features on the song ‘Nowhere’ with US rapper KYLE. Further tracks feature Charlie XCX, Ellie Goulding, Sean Paul and Demi Lovato.

“Fandits! Our new album What Is Love? is coming on November 30,” the group wrote in a recent tweet, accompanied by a short trailer. “We can’t wait to share new music with you very soon!”

Meanwhile, a man who shares the same name with the John Lewis department store recently got a special shout out from Elton John.
