"The Tour Before The Big Tour Tour 2018"

Circa Waves have today (October 10) announced details of an intimate new tour across the UK.

The tour, which the band are describing as “The Tour Before The Big Tour Tour 2018” will take place in November and will see the band play a host of smaller venues as part of a series of “underplay” shows. The band will be “road testing” brand new material from their forthcoming album as well as playing “fan-favourites”.

The band will return to the Scottish town Dunfermline whilst also performing for the first time in Kilmarnock, Stockton-on-Tees, Milton Keynes, Guilford, Tunbridge Well, Plymouth, Norwich and St Albarns.

Speaking about the shows, frontman Kieran Shudall said: “We LOVE to play big shows, but the small sweaty raucous club shows is where Circa Waves started and formed everything we are.”

He added: “We want to get back in the pit with you, get sweaty, drink some beer and meet all the people who make us Circa Waves. We want to go to the cities who always miss out. The people who always have to travel for gigs. Fuck it, we’re coming to you!”

Circa Waves told NME earlier this year that they had finished making their “cinematic” new album. Speaking to NME backstage before their show at the Big Top tent at Isle Of Wight Festival, singer Shudall said the Liverpool four-piece didn’t want to hold back on changing their style from previous albums ‘Young Chasers’ and ‘Different Creatures’.

Shudall added: “There are three or four songs on the next record where you’ll be able to say ‘Oh yeah, that’s Circa Waves.’ But the rest are totally different to anything we’ve done. There are a lot of different styles on there, but I think overall the unifying aspect of the sound is that it’s epic and cinematic.”

Reviewing their last album ‘Different Creatures’ last year, NME wrote: “Second album ‘Different Creatures’ does as its title suggests, presenting a band who’ve grown exponentially in the last two years, both musically and lyrically. In interviews, frontman Kieran Shudall has spoken about wanting to make something with more meaning. There’s no denying that he’s achieved that goal here.”

Tickets for the gigs go on sale on Friday October 12. The full tour dates are listed below.
