Chris Brown has been ordered to return to rehab for three months to seek help with anger management issues.

The BBC reports that the singer was told that he must also serve at least 24 hours of community service every week and be tested for drugs by by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Brandlin.

Brown had initially checked into a rehab facility last month (October 30), a day after he was released from jail following his arrest for allegedly punching a man, claiming that he wanted to receive treatment so he could "gain focus and insight into his past and recent behaviour". He left the centre earlier this month, however, after he threw a rock through the window of his mother's car after she suggested he should remain in treatment following a joint counselling session.

He has agreed to the terms, which were suggested by the probation officers who are responsible for overseeing the sentence he received for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards.

The BBC also notes that Brown is due to appear in a Washington DC court next week (November 25) where it could be ruled that he may have violated his probation. The singer got into an argument outside the W Hotel in the US capital in the early hours on Sunday (October 27) and punched him once in the face.

Prosecutors reduced an assault charge to a misdemeanour, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail. Violating the terms of his probation order could have resulted in him being sent to prison for up to four years.
