Two young pop titans unite

Charli XCX has announced a new collaboration with Troye Sivan, which arrives on Friday (October 5).

‘1999’ will be the first time the two pop stars have worked together.

The Matrix-themed artwork and the song title has sent fans into a frenzy. Could it be that the pair will reference the seminal 1999 science fiction movie?

The new track follows the release of Sivan’s second album, ‘Bloom’, in August. Read NME’s five-star review.

Meanwhile, a documentary about Charli was aired last month on BBC World Service. Listen to In The Studio: Charli XCX here.

Sivan collaborated with Ariana Grande in June with ‘Dance To This’.

The song was the fourth single from Sivan’s latest album, which followed the title track, ‘My, My, My’, and ‘The Good Side’.
