Blink-182 have recorded a new song with The Chainsmokers, it was revealed yesterday.

Announcing the news on social media, The Chainsmokers said they can now “die happy” following the session in which they recorded new music with the band.

Posting on Twitter, the band wrote: “Just did a session with blink182 and wrote an amazing song. We can die happy now.”

Blink-182 have also teased new music after posting pictures of themselves at work in a recording studio.

Pictures of Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba were shared on Instagram, with both pictured in vocal booths. They also used the hashtag ‘Pablo Honey’ leaving fans to speculate it may be a tribute of some kind to Radiohead.

Posting on Instagram, Skiba wrote: “GREAT DAY on the job today with my brother @markhoppus. #feellikemakinsong #pablohoney.”

On social media, fan reaction to news of the collaboration between Blink-182 and The Chainsmokers was mixed. Later on, Hoppus explained more about the collaboration saying: “We’ve been friends with them for a few years and have tried to collaborate a bunch of different times, but today our schedules aligned and we were all in the room at the same time.”

Last year, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker dropped a cryptic hint that Tom DeLonge might be returning to the band after he shared a photo of DeLonge’s face alongside the caption “Where Are Youuuuu” – a lyric taken directly from 2004’s ‘I Miss You.’

DeLonge then responded to the tweet with the lyric “I am the voice inside your yeeeeaaaad”, sparking speculation that he could return once more after leaving the band in 2015.

However, it was later claimed that this shouldn’t be taken as potential evidence of a reunion and more of a reflection of DeLonge and Barker’s enduring friendship. According to TMZ, “Travis and Tom were just trolling each other, and they don’t wanna mislead their fans, who were all just unsuspecting victims for a few hours”.

Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers recently honoured Beach House by singing about the Dream Pop duo on their new single, named after the band.

Following its release, the EDM outfit said of the single: “Really love this song as well ’cause we tried to get back to our roots on this with that classic OG Chainsmoker feel…And we were listening to a lot of Beach House.”

Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart previously given a shout-out to Blink-182. The track ‘Closer’ – their collaboration with Halsey which features the lyric: “Stay and play that Blink-182 song/ That we beat to death in Tuscon, okay.”
