Getting arrested is not fun, but there's something strangely alluring about the whole experience of Dino Lenny's "Guilty Officer." There's a fun feeling of danger in its unsettling groove, cheeky and danceable with a dark, brooding center. No wonder Maceo Plex nabbed the release for his Ellum Audio label, and even less surprising is that he gave it his own twisted techno remix.

"When I heard Maceo’s remix I said to myself, 'Damn, this remix is as good as the original,'" Lenny tells Billboard Dance. "If I had not made the original, I’d probably play the remix."

"(It) was a really fun remix to make," Plex says. "The original is so funky, all I could really do was build on that funk and add a little more intensity."

The "Guilty Officer" remix package -- which also includes a rework from Fibreroot -- rounds out the Ellum Audio year. No doubt it will be a staple in Maceo Plex's sets as he kicks off 2019 with his first headline tour in a decade.

“With a New Year comes new experiences, and I'm excited for this one to begin," Plex continues. "I’ll be starting 2019 with the launch of my Mutant Tour with some exciting shows across North and South America. I look forward to sharing some new and unreleased music in the culmination of my Mutant series of songs.”

The "Guilty Officer" remix package is out in full on Ellum Audio on Thursday (Dec. 27), but you can listen to it in full below a day early, exclusively on Billboard Dance.
