The Guns N' Roses frontman said the band had "formally requested" the US President stop playing their songs at his events

Axl Rose has said the Trump campaign is using “loopholes” to play music at rallies and other events without the performers’ consent.

In recent weeks, the likes of Pharrell Williams, Steven Tyler, and Prince‘s estate have all threatened legal action against the current US President, after discovering he had used their music during campaign events ahead of the mid-term elections.

The Guns N’ Roses frontman has now offered his view of the situation on Twitter while confirming the band have also “formally requested” Trump stop playing their songs.

“Just so ya know… GNR like a lot of artists opposed to the unauthorized use of their music at political events has formally requested r music not b used at Trump rallies or Trump associated events,” he tweeted.

“Unfortunately the Trump campaign is using loopholes in the various venues’ blanket performance licenses which were not intended for such craven political purposes, without the songwriters’ consent. Can u say ‘shitbags?!'”

He added that there was a part of him that enjoyed the fact Guns N’ Roses songs was being played at the rallies. “Personally I kinda liked the irony of Trump supporters listening to a bunch of anti Trump music at his rallies but I don’t imagine a lot of ‘em really get that or care,” he said.

“And when ur phone’s blowin’ up cuz peeps r seein’/hearin’ Sweet Child on the news at a rally… as a band we felt we should clarify r position. Peace!”

Trump has not commented on Rose’s claims.

Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones stars have also hit out at Trump after he referenced the show in a tweet about Iran. On Friday (November 2), he shared a photo of himself with the words “Sanctions are coming. November 5” emblazoned across it, stylised to look like the font used by the HBO show.
