Apple Will Improve Its Music Service

The tech giant admitted that its new music streaming service needs improvements. Apple Music launched this past summer as a rival to Spotify. Although the service has been praised for its curated playlists, it has also been criticized over its user interface and flaws that affected users’ existing iTunes libraries.

Apple admitted that there was a lot of work on improving the product. At the moment, the company is focused on editorial and playlists, and obviously Apple has teams all around the world working on that. However, Music teams are also adding features and cleaning up certain bugs. In the meantime, Apple Music Connect is quickly expanding, with more and more artists connecting to their fans.

As for criticisms of the service’s usability, which saw people complaining of corrupted libraries and unintuitive interfaces, Apple explained that the music streaming service saw a very big launch in 110 markets instantly, so the company got a ton of feedback and takes it seriously.

The company also confirmed that Apple Music would launch for Android devices and Sonos-connected hi-fis this fall. A month ago, the tech giant said that it had already signed up 11 million people for the 3-month free trial of the service. At the end of this month, the earliest adopters will be deciding whether to start paying for Apple Music.

Today the company is launching a new advertising campaign to promote Apple Music and attract more trial members. This campaign includes Apple’s annual music festival in London, involving One Direction, Pharrell Williams and the Chemical Brothers.

In the meantime, industry experts have been picking over the 11m figure: for example, one analyst claimed that almost half of those people had already stopped using the trial. This conclusion was contradicted by Apple, which said the true figure was only 21%.

I'd rather prefer having my vinyls on my shelfs and mi FLACs in my computer.
