Josh Gracin is home safe with his family today after posting what reads like a suicide note on Facebook Thursday night:

"I've loved her for 17 years," he wrote in the post, likely referring to his wife, Ann Marie. "I made mistakes… I admitted them, told her the truth and she turned her back on me when I needed her help the most… Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music... Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye."

According to TMZ, a family member alerted police to the Facebook post, which has since been taken down. They rushed to the American Idol alum's Spring Hill, Tennessee home to find his wife, but not Gracin. Authorities were later able to track him down as he was driving in the area. They escorted the 33-year-old singer to a nearby hospital, where he was evaluated by doctors and quickly released.

Just about four hours after the alarming Facebook post, Gracin's manager took over his Twitter page to report, "Thank you everyone for your prayers & concern. Josh is safe & with his family now. I promise to update soon."

Gracin placed fourth on the second season of American Idol and was the show's first-ever country act to have post-Idol success. He signed a deal with the now-defunct Lyric Street Records in 2004, releasing his self-titled debut album that same year. The LP achieved gold sales status on the strength of hits such as "Stay With Me (Brass Bed)," "Nothin' to Lose" and "I Want to Live." After lackluster sales of his second album, Gracin parted ways with the label. Three years later, he released another album, Redemption, in partnership with Average Joe's Entertainment. He's currently prepping an EP called Worth This Love on his own label.

Gracin was two years into his four-year term with the U.S. Marines when he auditioned for Idol. He completed his service after the show, skipping the American Idols Live Tour. He and Ann Marie were wed just after his honorable discharge from the Marines in 2001. They have three daughters and a son, who range in age from nine to 12.

The ailing singer has canceled his performance at Charleston, West Virginia's Live on the Levee tonight. Trent Tomlinson will perform in his place.
