AC/DC have confirmed plans to work on a new album.

The band will start writing new material this spring when they get together at a studio in Vancouver, Canada.

"Well, you'll be the first one to know," frontman Brian Johnson told 98.7 The Gater's Andy Preston. "Really, because we've been denying anything, 'cause we weren't sure.

"But I think we'll be going into the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready."

Speaking about plans for a 40th anniversary tour, the singer confirmed AC/DC will be playing shows to mark their career milestone.

"It's been 40 years of the band's existence," he said. "So I think we're gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty.
