The 1975 announce ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ listening party

The band will virtually gather with fans to celebrate the record's release

The 1975 have announced a global listening party to mark the release of their third album, ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships‘.

The new record will arrive on November 30, following the release of several singles, including ‘Give Yourself A Try’, ‘Love It If We Made It’, and ‘TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME’.

The band will virtually gather with fans on Twitter at 7pm on December 1, when they will invite participants to press play on the record and share their thoughts on each song using the hashtag #ABIIOR. Fans are being encouraged to pre-save the album on Spotify and Apple Music ahead of the event.

The 1975 will play two tiny gigs in London the day before the album’s release, both for Kingston-based record store Banquet. They are expected to announce another intimate gig in Camden in the near future.

“2 tiny shows before Christmas,” frontman Matty Healy tweeted recently, before adding, “In Southern England (near where I live) I’m not missioning about in December no thankss.” After a fan suggested the band play Banquet’s club night New Slang, Healy responded to his manager on Twitter, writing: “Yeah let’s do it and let’s do the Barfly in December.”

In January, they will then hit the road properly, taking ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’ to arenas across the UK. Remaining tickets are available to purchase here.

Meanwhile, Healy recently explained the meaning behind the lyrics for ‘Love It If We Made It’. The song finds him referencing late rapper Lil Peep, the refugee crisis in the Middle East and Donald Trump.

“It’s the gem of hope amongst all of the rubble,” he said. “I didn’t want to do a protest song. I wanted to be introspective but not so much like my diary.”
