After buying a seedbox few weeks back thought put some tips and info so people know what to do and expect in first few weeks so don't get banned or ratioed by downloading.

I am using a 25gb/2gbits seedbox which I used half for downloading stuff I want and half for ratio reasons (while seeding all files). On a private tracker downloads to seedbox max I have seen is 100mb/s but have consistently seen 30-40mb/sec (as most people seedbox at 1gbits or less I think 2gbits+ is too much as 1gbits is adequate)

On public trackers download to seedbox is around 2-3mb/sec at most but can be around less than 1mb/sec as more busier or less seedboxes on the swarms.

Anyway best thing for ratio improving is to seed popular files and should ratio x3 within few days if pick the right file. Building ratio means you can download files you require sometimes knowing seeding will be zero.

Apart from speeds/storage seedbox is handy to stream video files direct from seedbox to vlc/media player classic. Saves downloading direct which is slower.

Pick up some free unlimited invites can get you going. I would say getting invites to the 'big' private servers is very difficult have to build a reputation which for most casual users is near impossible.

With the seedbox I am using rtorrent is the web software. Read on various forums Deluge is more popular but rtorrent does the job. Also lastly if have a seedbox with 1gbit best to have SSD drive with the seedbox for quicker access/download speeds.

he did a big mistake. He has a big and powerful connection but the space is very limited.

If you need to buffer your private account, fist of all you need space. Why ? because the best buffer you can make is on big packs / files with freeleech.
Exaple : On IPT, you stay and watch what is uploaded and grab the porn packs ( 10 gb - 1 tb ) each. If you are lucky and have peering with the uploader, you can have after 24-48 h around 2x-x4 of your pack/file in upload.

The best option is a shared 1 gbps unlimited. Or a premium seedbx with data cap ( 10-20 gbps ) . 400-1tb is enouth for ratio.

I used at first seedboxes.cc with 20 gbps and i was like : WOW !! 80 MB/s upload/ holy *** !!!. the i used a shared box with 1 gbps. It was ok...

now i have a cheap sb with 100 mbps/ 100 mbps and i can make whatever i want because i have around 100 Tb buffer on over 40 trackers.

The only place i can say that big buffer is ok to have is IPT because if you want to download someting at home or at your friend home / work etc and you can't seed it, you cand "zip it "with one click and no H&R

I'd like to add ratio building tips that helped me greatly:

1- Grab popular files that have been very recently uploaded, ie within a few hours or better, minutes.
For movies: within 12-24 hours. For TV episodes: within 1-2 hours. The sooner the better.

You can also subscribe to the RSS feeds of the trackers to make it easier than visiting each site.

2- If the tracker has 0day torrents, grab them as soon as they're uploaded -- many people will download them to build ratio.

3- Always make sure to choose torrents with the highest seeders, as it means they're the most downloaded.

4- Finally, observe your tracker closely for several days to get acquainted with its unique trends (which contents are more downloaded, how fast they're grabbed, etc)

These simple tips have skyrocketed my ratio before I even got a seedbox.
