I've a dedicated server that runs Windows. I wanted to use it as a seedbox, so I installed Ubuntu as a VM and installed rTorrent, Deluge on it. Despite my countless tries, I couldn't get the VM to work on Bridged Network mode, it only gets internet access with NAT mode. Now, although my server has static IP(obviously), my torrent clients on Ubuntu don't connect with peers. It downloads just fine(100-150 MBps) but doesn't upload at all even when there's hundreds of peers.

Note: The same torrent that doesn't upload in my server, does so in a seedbox.

Are you asking is it a good practice to do that? Or are you asking what is the best way to do it?

Did you forward the port on your router mate? If you have internet connection, it obviously works.
If you cannot seed then check the the port rTorrent is listening to and open it on your router

@Tonmoy1366, two things that you need to keep in mind when you run a VM from Windows.

When you NAT, check what IP is assigned to the VM and then reserve that IP on your router, then make sure that all your forwarding rules are pointing to that IP.

Use Nmap 7.00 to test if your ports are open once you have done all your settings.

Also make sure that your VM does not share the drive when using it as a seedbox, rather map the drive between Linux and Windows than sharing it.

I did successfully forwarded the ports and everything's green now. Sometimes peers connect but the upload speed is ridiculously low. Maintaining ratio would be impossible at this rate.

This happens to every single torrent, even when I'm the only seeder and there's 10-12 peers.

Do a upload speed test from Windows and see your ISP speed test, if this is all well, then you still have issues with your ports, try to open all related ports.

Your print screen is very blurry, can you upload to imgr?

Grab a newly released movie on eg. IPT and check your upload stats then.

No idea mate it is strange indeed. Maybe it's a VM setting? When you are allocating resources to your VM. maybe it limits the ethernet connection? Have a look at the VM properties maybe you are missing something there.
