Transfer files to a new seedbox

    Soooo...

I'm technology retarded so bare with me and my silly questions. Is it possible to transfer files from one seedbox (expiring membership) to another seedbox (new)? I'm about to suffer a H&R thanks to someones slow connection and drop outs so any help would be GREAT!

You should be able to use rsync to transfer your old files into the new seedbox. First you need to ssh into the new seedbox and then follow this guide: https://whatbox.ca/wiki/rsync#changi...and/or_servers

The command should be something like rsync -avhSP --stats user@YourOldSeedboxDoman.com:/home/user/ /home/user/

PS. Change" user" to your username.

BTW most providers will gladly migrate your files (for free) if you ask them.

    Yes you can!

Last time I had to do it, I’ve used FlashFXP. With it you can login via ftp on both seedboxes and drag and drop the files from one seedbox to the other.

You will have to download the .torrent files manually from the tracker though (if you have a high number of trackers, you can use rutorrent watch folder to make it a little faster).

No need to redownload torrents. As long as you transfer the .session directory all torrents are available on new seedbox.

This is the way I go. Provider needs to allow FXP though, as far as i understand.

Im a tad late to the party... but, you can usually request the new seedbox to have them transfer files from your old box. If you go to the FAQ/Support page for your Seedbox, there should be some more info on that. Not all of the seedbox co's do this, but its worth looking in to. I hope the best for you.

    Cheers!

    Very good explanation guys.

Very old and very simpler way where you don't want much mess of commands, first of all copy .Session directory to desktop using any ftp client, create torrent of entire download directory using single udp tracker "udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969" make sure you select properly your pieces to be don't keep it automatic,if it's huge torrent I mean in terabytes select highest value you can or Google for piece size.

Just drop your newly created torrent file in new box.

Don't have to bother about installing any software or technically keeping busy yourself after ftp transfers.I am not saying they are bad methods but there is lot of technical hand require for it.

Infact ftp transfer is fast but I am not sure of disconnections issue and data corruption occurs if any.

Recently I transfered 3 TB data using torrent file, took me 27 hrs for transfer, but i didnt have to keep looking again and again or keep Amy machine running for it,i dont know about ftp how to work but my method you just drop torrent and leave it.

Post torrent completion delete torrent file from session directory and add your save session files from previous seedbox.very easy.
