    Do I need a seedbox?

A little query, do I need a seedbox? I'm not a heavy downloader, so I think keeping good ratio will be easy enough for me (was in the past anyway). I have an average upload speed of 5-6 and download of on a good day of 25 but averages lower at around 13. What do you think? As usual all help is greatly appreciated.

With 100Mb/s (~12,5MB/s) Upload/Download speed I have no problems with maintaining healthy ratio with good buffer.

@MusicX thanks, you've confirmed what I was thinking, didn't want to bother with a seedbox if I didn't have to. Thanks again sir, you are a scholar and a gentleman.

That also depends on which trackers you use.

For example, you will suffer at TorrentLeech with those speeds.

Thanks @Tassadar, I'll keep that in mind, I'll experiment and see how it goes.

If you don't upload your own stuff you will need one, unfortunatelly. Home conection is not enough for trackers that have lots of users using seedboxes and auto-snatching torrents.

If you are not a heavy downloader you don't need a seedbox mate. Find your way into a ratioless tracker and just seed with the speeds you have for as much time is needed by the tracker to avoid H&R

Seedbox is never a requirement, lots of trackers prefer long term seeders over seedboxes. However without a seedbox, you won't be able to take much adventure on seeding back newest torrents for a good ratio, so you will need to use other ways to get a good ratio. There are plenty of ways, like:
    - download freeleech torrents
    - seed lots of torrents for long time
    - upload new torrents
    - cross seed torrents
    - complete requests
It's only important to build up buffer before you download what you want and not after that

Personal recommendation is to have a seedbox to maintain ratios. I use a VM on my home server specifically for torrents only. It's segmented, always on, running wired (not wireless) since it's built into the server, and accessible anywhere.

Using trackers is a long-term endeavor, so paying monthly vs buying something to use could be algebraically calculated if you wanted to put in that much work, but I think it tilts towards owning the equipment.

Truth is a seedbox can be VERY low-end, run headless, and sit anywhere you can get a solid connection.

Never have been a fan of ratio-less trackers; often difficult to get enough seeders for the download speeds I like.
