Difference between seedbox and VPS ?

Guys I had another question ... What exactly is the difference between a 'seedbox' and a 'VPS' .. ? I am talking from a service advertisement point of view, as technically I know they are both VPS running on machines ..

The reason why I ask this is I want to know what's amount of features does each provide you ? Like can I log in and install my own applications in it ? Will it be like logging in using Windows Remote Desktop or something ? Can I install any Win 32 application in it to do custom upload/download jobs ?

Like if I want to say download some files from CHDbits, and then continue seeding that, but also then upload the downloaded files onto Rapidshare, etc .. For this would I need a seedbox or a VPS ?

Any tutorial on such things meant for n00bs would be really appreciated ..

I am at this site and I'm configuring a custom VPS setup:

    http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/7932/customvps.png

In order to login into an interface based remote session, like RDP for Windows (I don't like commandline shit), what features would I need to tick here ? Like here are my requirements:

    1) I want to be able to log in to get a desktop interface ..
    2) I want to be able to install stuff like utorrent, etc .. and possibly also uploading scripts like sBorg, etc ..
    3) I want to be able to seed/leech torrents
    4) I want to be able to download/upload files using scripts/tools for this purpose ..

So what options do I need to tick in this custom VPS setup page, as I've no real idea what those terms (e.g. cPanel, Fantastico Virtuozzo, Plesk, etc) mean ...

Seedboxes are usually not run on virtual platform (but there providers who run seedbox on vps) where usually only hard disk is limited, while vps is jailed platform with limited resources like ram,CPU and HDD.

If you need to install your own software's on servers and if you are n00b for linux, you should look into providers where you can go for windows vps and install all necessary software's you want (assuming that they provide admin access for installtion)

there are providers who have enabled rapidleech with seedbox ( you should dig a bit for right provider).
    hope this helps

if you are looking for seedbox ( but we do not have rapidleech with our seedbox , but with our rb-3 plan we provide VNC (its a gui to linux desktop something similar to rdp with ftp client and web-browser installed).
http://www.chociz.com (we do not provide SSH so i am not sure if this would help, but if you are in for real torrenting ,you could give it a go)

VPS would be like having a computer on-line with a desktop, Seed box is like an online torrent client. They usally have a webwebui witch gives you a couple options like = rutorrent, file manager, news, chat, network storage, Wiki

So VPS is like a little computer witch you can install stuff on like flash player (if you have root access) Seed box is torrent client with a webwebui interface (They usally dont have all the options your home torrent client has ports and such) but some come with a proxy service. Hope this helps

A seedbox is just an online torrent client really. A VPS is a virtual computer that you can do whatever you want with (depending on the provider), one of those things includes installing and configuring rtorrent, rutorrent and using it as a seedbox PLUS whatever else you want to do with it. Depends if you want a simple or full featured seedbox. Personally I use a VPS so I can do things such as have an openvpn tunnel from my ddwrt router to my box, and use it to access foreign countries online content that is locked down by IP, I run my vent server on there and a few other small things...
