As we reported to you yesterday, Newegg did it again this year and published pricing information on a new Windows version before everyone else, but the retailer now allows users to pre-order a copy of the operating system too.

So if you can’t wait until later this summer, when the new OS becomes available, you can now pre-order it at Newegg and get your copy as soon as it comes out. According to the retailer, this should happen on August 31.

Pricing for Windows 10, at least according to Newegg, goes at follows:

Microsoft Windows 10 Home - OEM - $109.99 / €100

Microsoft Windows 10 Professional - OEM - $149.99 / €137

This means that Windows 10 will be 10 dollars more expensive that Windows 8, but that obviously doesn’t mean much, given the fact that there’s a 3-year window between the launch of the two operating systems.

As far as the release date is concerned, there are a lot of rumors swirling around the web these days, so it’s hard to say whether Newegg’s date is accurate or not.

Insiders will get it first

According to Microsoft’s release plans, Windows Insiders, who help the company develop Windows 10, will be the first to get the operating system when it reaches RTM later this summer. Details on when exactly this is going to happen are yet to be provided, but Windows 10 is expected to reach RTM in June or July, while general availability is reportedly prepared for July or August.

Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8.1 users within the first year after launch, but only consumers would get it at no cost, so enterprises would still have to pay for it.

How much they’ll have to pay is yet to be announced, but full details are expected to be unveiled at WPC 2015 in early July, when Microsoft will introduce the new operating system to partners.
