One of the main complaints regarding the development of Windows 10 Mobile last year was that Microsoft rolled out preview builds at a very slow pace, with users rarely getting improvements as part of the Insider program.

But starting with January 2016, Microsoft has significantly increased the release cadence of preview builds, making Windows 10 Mobile a priority and working around the clock to get the OS ready for prime time.
New builds in 2016 The first build released this year was 10.0.10586.63 and launched on January 8 for the fast ring, while the next version, 10.0.10586.71 was launched by Microsoft for both the fast and slow channels on February 1 and February 4, respectively.
Only a few days later, the company started shipping 10586.107 not only to the fast and slow rings, but also to users enrolled in the release preview rings. Furthermore, the public release for new Lumia devices took place as well on February 18.
More recently, Microsoft shipped 10586.122 to the slow ring and RP on March 2, followed by .164 on March 8 for the very same users.
At the same time, the software giant is also working on the Redstone update for Windows 10 Mobile, but these builds are currently available only for new Lumia devices that launched with Windows 10. The preview rollout started on February 19 with 10.0.14267.1002 and continued 5 days later with 14267.1004. Yesterday, Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build 10.0.14283.1000, but all these versions are only available as part of the fast ring.
Certainly, the criticism regarding Microsoft’s secrecy over the launch of Windows 10 Mobile remains and this is probably where the software giant doesn’t get it right. Rolling out new preview builds to users at a faster cadence is certainly encouraging for those who still think that Windows phones do have a future, but at the same time, the transparency that the company is aiming for should also expand in this area.
