Microsoft has just released Windows 10 Redstone build 14279 to members of the Windows Insider program who are part of the fast ring, finally starting work on more significant changes that are expected to be included in the final version of the update due out in mid-2016.

As we’ve told you in the official release announcement a few minutes ago, build 14279 is the first to come with new features, as Microsoft has until now focused on fixing bugs and improving performance of OneCore. As Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, said in early 2016, this was a priority because before releasing new features, everything had to work flawlessly and squashing the critical bugs was a must do.
More under-the-hood changes But in addition to new Cortana languages and features to remember things that you need to do, and updated logon experience with backgrounds on both the lock screen and the logon screen, Microsoft has also introduced some other changes that are at least worth a look at in build 14279.
For example, the Photos app now has Sway integration, a change that we’ve already covered earlier today when announcing the update for the app.
Furthermore, Xbox beta app for Windows 10 comes with the March update in this build and includes new features such as a Gamerscore Leaderboard and an updated “Featured” section.
There are several key fixes in this build, including patches for bugs that were causing Microsoft Edge and Cortana to crash for users with roaming profiles. Cortana should no longer show reminders that have been completed, and BSODs caused by drivers downloaded from Windows Update should no longer occur.
And last but not least, Gabe Aul says that Microsoft has “fixed an issue where items copied/moved to the desktop would not display until the desktop is manually refreshed by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing ‘Refresh’ or pressing F5.”
