Windows Phone users are undoubtedly familiar with the Snapchat saga, as there’s no official client for the service on Microsoft’s mobile platform, and at the same time, third-party apps that would replace it are strictly prohibited in the store.

But Specter, one of the Snapchat clients that reached the store recently, seems to survive for the time being, and it even receives updates on a regular basis.
Today, for instance, the app has been updated with support for Windows 10, so it now works on both PCs and smartphones powered by the new operating system.
At the moment, the fate of this app is still uncertain, especially given Snapchat’s despisal towards Microsoft in general and Windows Phone in particular. The dev of the app warns that some features might not work correctly in the description posted in the store.
“Please note that this is an early preview of the application (not all features must always work - but they should, so write an e-mail to specterapp@outlook.com if you have any problems). Currently, the app only allows you to log in with an existing account and then send and receive messages.”
In the meantime, this remains your only option to connect to Snapchat, so until it gets removed from the store, if this ever happens, it’s clearly worth a try.
