Opera 31 is now available for download, so Windows 10 users who don’t want to stick to Edge now have an alternative that comes with a much richer feature set than Microsoft’s new browser.

First and foremost, it’s worth mentioning that Opera 31 is fully compatible with Windows 10, so you shouldn’t experience any kind of issue after installing the browser on the new Windows operating system. Everything works just as expected, but what’s really impressive is actually the speed of the app.

Opera says that it focused specifically on making Opera 31 faster than its predecessors, so at least the startup time has been significantly improved in this particular release. Version 31 is 70 percent faster than the previous versions, the developing team says, which “is especially important and helpful for devices with slower, traditional hard drives.”

Better synchronization

In addition to being more responsive and faster on Windows 10 and previous Windows versions, Opera 31 also brings a number of synchronization improvements, with additional options to synchronize typed history between PCs. So if you’re using the browser on multiple computers with the same account, the same content should be everywhere.

There are several other improvements that you might spot in the browser. The Opera team explains:

“We redesigned pages in Opera for computers so everything looks nice and modern. In Opera 31, Discover gets a better layout. Discover is a feature that serves you the most recent content from your region. You can also customize it by choosing topic category or country.”

As you might have heard, Microsoft changed the way you can configure the default browser in Windows 10, so if you install Opera, the “make default” button isn’t going to work. The Opera team, however, addressed this with a tutorial that explains how to configure a new browser step by step, so have a look at the video below to learn how to do it.
