Windows 10 is growing, there’s no doubt about this, and Microsoft itself confirmed that more users are moving to its new operating system.

And now, market share figures provided by StatCounter suggest that Windows 10’s growth continued last month, so Redmond’s new platform is getting closer to Windows 7, although it’s doing it at a rather slow pace.
More Windows 7 users are moving to Windows 10, there’s no doubt about it, and while specific figures aren’t available to tell how many are actually making the switch, it’s very clear that Redmond’s upgrade strategy is paying off.
At this point, Windows 7 continues to be the leading desktop platform, StatCounter says, with a share of 45.76 percent, followed by Windows 10 with 16.53 percent. Windows 8.1 is next with 10.94, while Apple’s OS X is fourth in the charts with 9.38 percent.
Windows 10’s growth While Windows 10’s current market share might not seem much, it’s worth considering that the new operating system has been around for less than a year, so the 16 percent market share is quite an important achievement.
Microsoft’s offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 devices until July 29, 2016, and while it’s not yet clear what’s happening after this date, everyone’s recommended to take advantage of the offer and install the new OS while they still can without paying.
Redmond’s also continuing its upgrade push in a more aggressive manner, and Windows 10 is now listed as a recommended update in Windows Update. There were reports that the Windows 10 install was started without users’ consent, but Microsoft has denied such claims, explaining that its customers are always in control and can decide whether to upgrade or not.
Either way, it’s very clear that in one way or another Windows 10 is growing, so it’s probably only a matter of time until it catches Windows 7. Don’t expect this to happen soon though.
