Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.164 as a cumulative update for retail users and insiders enrolled in the slow rings and release preview rings, and while at the first the company said that this new version is nearly identical to its predecessor, a more detailed changelog is now available.

Just as expected, Windows 10 Mobile 10586.164 is all about fixing bugs and improving performance of the operating system, so you won’t find any new features in this release.
Fix for the alarm issue According to the official changelog (which you can find in the box at the end of the article), build .164 comes with improvements for app notifications, including text messages and alarms not ringing as scheduled.
As you probably know if you are a long-time Windows Phone user, one of the widespread issues with Windows 10 Mobile was that alarms didn’t always go off, so this update is another attempt at fixing the bug. It remains to be seen if the issue is still experienced after the update or not, but for the moment, it’s just too early to tell.
At the same time, this new update brings improvements for text message backup to reduce data and battery usage, as well as fixes for Microsoft Edge and Microsoft accounts not being detected by Outlook Mail and Calendar. “Attempting to add a new contact in this state caused the People app to crash for some users,” Microsoft says, but this issue should be fixed now.
And last but not least, Microsoft has also tried to fix one of the most annoying bugs affecting installed apps. In some cases, first-party app updates failed to install, so users were no longer allowed to launch them, which made it impossible to use a specific installed app on Windows 10 Mobile devices.
Microsoft says that the update will be released gradually to users across the world and until the next week everyone should get it.
