Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 Redstone preview build for Insiders enrolled in the fast ring, this time providing a few new features too (as compared to previous builds that were exclusively focused on improving performance and fixing bugs).

Windows 10 Redstone build 14270 comes with Cortana in more languages, including Spanish (Mexico), Portuguese (Brazil) and French (Canada). Just like before, the personal assistant has been optimized for each market, so you’ll notice some particular features depending on the country you’re using it in.
“For instance, in Brazil – Cortana is fond of pasteis which is a common food found in many regions across Brazil. And in Mexico, we added local flavor to reflect the accent and language of the country,” Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.
More Cortana features and wallpaper options Additionally, Cortana has been improved with features to remember things that are important for you, so starting with this build, you can have the personal assistant remind you of reading a book or washing the car.
“You have the option to set specific details like location, time, and people at a later time so that Cortana will surface it when its most relevant. You can always view and edit all of these in the same place you see your reminders in Cortana today. In future builds Cortana will be able to retrieve these upon request, just like a real personal assistant would,” Aul adds.
Furthermore, Windows 10 build 14279 is the first one to merge backgrounds for the lock screen and the logon screen. Starting today, you are allowed to set a wallpaper that will be displayed on both. In future builds, Windows Spotlight wallpapers will also be supported, so Microsoft will be in charge of replacing the background on both the lock screen and the logon screen.
New transition effects will also debut soon, Microsoft promises, so it looks like the work on the Redstone update advances quite nicely these days.
