Microsoft has just rolled out a new Windows 10 cumulative update, this time only targeting the 1511 version that the company released in November.

Although Redmond promised to provide more information on cumulative updates, KB3140743 doesn’t get such a treatment, so each description posted on the official KB page says only little about its contents.
“This update includes improvements to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 Version 1511 and Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4. Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously-released fixes. If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer,” the KB page states.
It’s worth mentioning that this cumulative update will ask for a reboot, so IT admins should have this in mind when installing it.
Windows 10 update KB3139907 Additionally, Microsoft has also released a new servicing stack update for Windows 10 version 1511 and Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4, but again, the information that the company provided is quite limited. KB3139907 is an update that “makes stability improvements for Windows 10 Version 1511 and Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4 servicing stack.”
In this case, a system restart is not needed, but if you install both updates released today, keep in mind that you need to save your work to complete installation of KB3140743.
Previous Windows 10 cumulative updates caused several issues on Windows 10 computers and some users were unable to install them. At this point, we are not aware of any problem that might be experienced with this update, but we’ll keep an eye on reports and let you know should any issues be discovered.
In the meantime, everyone is recommended to deploy these updates, especially because they bring performance improvements and bug fixes on Windows 10 computers.
