Microsoft Launches Huge Batch of Windows Bug Fixes and Performance Patches
Microsoft has rolled out another batch of non-security updates for Windows versions currently on the market, thus trying to fix a number of bugs and improve performance in some specific scenarios on its operating system on PCs and tablets.
Basically, there’s nothing too exciting about this release, as Microsoft has focused specifically on little things that matter for the overall experience with the operating system, so you won’t get any new features or tools after installing today’s updates.
They’re all non-security updates, so they come to complement the ones that were previously released by Microsoft on Patch Tuesday and that were supposed to address vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, and Internet Explorer.
Improved performance and fewer bugs
Instead, you should notice somewhat improved PC performance, as well as fewer bugs, as many are supposed to be squashed with these patches (all of them are detailed in the box after the jump).
The number of updates that you get depends on several factors, including the installed Microsoft software and the Windows version. As you can see below, Windows 8.1 is the biggest star of the show, as it has received the majority of updates, but Windows 7 has its own share of patches.
Windows RT has also gotten a number of improvements, although this platform has no future in Microsoft’s new vision, but since many of the bugs also existed in Windows 8.1, it was rather easy for the company to fix them all at the same time.
All these patches are being delivered to users via Windows Update, so just check the ones you want to download and you’re good to go.
Until now, we’re not aware of any operating system issues that might be caused by these updates, but in case reports of any botched updates occur, you can surely find them on Softpedia.
