Microsoft hasn’t yet released a new preview build of Windows 10 Mobile this week, but the company might come up with something that’s even more exciting for fans of the platform: the final version also available for Windows Phone devices.

Redmond’s official target for the debut of Windows 10 Mobile is “early 2016,” but according to several sources, the operating system was scheduled to go live on March 17. And a new report published by VentureBeat and using information from well-known leaker Evan Blass, this date is indeed accurate and Windows 10 Mobile is expect to start shipping as soon as tomorrow.
Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed the report, but an official announcement on this is expected tomorrow, when the company should also provide all details regarding the rollout.
Manual update at first It appears, however, that the release of Windows 10 Mobile will kick off with a manual mode which will require Windows Phone devices to be upgraded to the new operating system by following a few steps.
The software giant won’t be pushing the upgrade to Windows Phone devices automatically at first, so manual download and installation of the new OS will be required, the source writes. An automatic push is expected to begin later this year, but details on this are not yet available.
Microsoft’s tomorrow announcement is also very likely to include information regarding the devices that will be included in the first wave of upgrades, as it’s believed that the Windows 10 Mobile rollout will take place in stages. Not all devices will get the Windows 10 Mobile treatment at the same time, so expect some models to be left behind until a second wave begins.
Of course, we’re pretty sure many Windows Phone fans are still skeptical that Microsoft is ready to release Windows 10 Mobile at this point, but the wait might finally come to an end in less than 24 hours.
