Microsoft has allowed not to install unstable Windows 10 builds to test the latest versions of embedded applications

The participants of the Windows 10 testing program are about to be able to use beta versions of built-in applications like "Photos" and "Mail", without loading the earlier versions of the operating system. Before, it was necessary to be in the Fast or Skip Ahead evaluation stages to install the latest versions of Microsoft programs.

"From users of the Windows pre-evaluation program, we've heard that the need to subscribe to Skip Ahead for the latest application updates is not the best option, because of this, users have to switch to very early and sometimes unstable assemblies of the operating system," she said. Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows pre-evaluation program.

Now users will be able to stay in the evaluation stages of Release Preview or even Slow and install early updates through the applications themselves. The corresponding options will be available on the parameters pages or descriptions of the following programs:

"Feedback Center";
"Photo";
Sticky Notes;
"Advice";
Paint 3D;
"Alarm clocks and watches";
"Calculator";
"Camera";
"Portal of mixed reality";
"Voice recording".

Microsoft also began testing another major update for Windows 10 code-named Redstone 5. The first build is available at the Skip Ahead evaluation stage - in the coming months, the list of innovations in it will likely expand significantly.

Participants in the testing program can test the build of 17101 update Redstone 4, which is due out next month. The company has not yet given it an official name, but earlier called it Spring Creators Update, that is, spring creative update.
