    @UFC , will you offer insight? You are an Apple fanboy.
    It was many and many a year ago,
    In a kingdom by the sea,
    That a maiden there lived whom you may know
    By the name of Annabel Lee;
    And this maiden she lived with no other thought
    Than to love and be loved by me.

    You should go for MacBook Air.

    Check the comparison.

    I got one recently. Went a little overbudget and picked a MacBook Pro.

    Pros:
    Fast, really fast computer;
    macOS took me a couple days to get used to, however when you do, it is extremely clean and simple.

    Cons:
    Not all softwares are available for that platform. Still getting used with wine and simulators.

    My overall view is:
    If you are using on a day-today function, it is definitely worth it.
    If you plan to use advanced softwares (e.g encoding, scripts, macros, etc) it will take sometime to get used to. But even with this small hassle, at the end it usually takes me 1/6 of the time to do anything compared to my previous one.

    My recommendation is: if you can afford it, it is worth. Now I am making plans to get a second one, because my wife pretty much took mine away from me.
