Which platform is better?
Which platform is better?
Do you like Batman or Superman?
Star Wars or Star Trek?
Isn't this like saying "Which is better, a Mercedes or a car?". A Mac is a kind of PC (Personal Computer) right?
TOO many variables to offer my opinion.
- PC's are made by many brands and 99% of the time run Windows.
- Macs are made by apple and use OS X. (Windows in dual boot)
- PC's are cheaper
- Macs last longer
- PC's are easy to upgrade/hack/DIY/etc
- Mac's maintain their value longer
- Gamers prefer PC's
- Music/Design/etc heads prefer Mac
What are you using a computer for? Surfing the web? Homework? Work? Gaming? These questions will tel you whats the BEST for YOU.
Macs 100% i will never use a windows pc again. my mac has lasted me 5 years without having to re-install OSX once - i have it dual booted so i can use windows whenever i like mainly for RA2 a classic game i still love.
@Moses - this thread is about Mac or PC nothing relates to batman or star wars so id keep it to what the title says
Many times when we're chatting online due to language barriers context is taken out of context.
I wasn't trying to derail the thread or change the topic. In fact the opposite, however I failed. My original reply in this thread was a lousy attempt at sarcasm. The Mac or PC debate is extremely relative and subjective. Its all arbitrary and no right answer. Hence, my question if the OP liked Batman Or Superman? Its a completely personal answer and however he answers he will never be wrong. I failed at trying to point out the hilarity of the original question. I'll try to be more clear next time...
Back to the OP.... I prefer Macs for everything except my storage.... Better bang for your buck over the long haul.
Recently switched to Mac after using Windows machines for 20 years.
Just have my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016) for 3 weeks and I'm sold already.
The price was extreme but I'm enjoying it every minute.
It's the same a my mobile I think. I bought a iPhone as first smartphone. I was forced to switch to a other mobile because I had troubles with the provider.
I used for about 10 years a android phone but it wasn't good enough. Phones crashed, programs crashed, etc..
Now I'm on iPhone and everything is stable. Same a my MacBook. I'm sold :-)
Thanks everyone for there input. I have decided that I want a Mac. Know I have to figure out how I'm going to afford one.
@jthaman - If you want (theoretically) more stability - I guess OS X (MAC). But to me, the price : performance ratio is a joke. Word of advice to you - build a Hackintosh! There's no need to spend thousands of dollars on an Apple machine, just to use their OS. You can easily build a custom PC for a mere $400 (even less, depending on your personal needs), that you can then install OS X on, and buddy trust me - you won't see any difference whatsoever. Take it from someone who's done it. Even if you don't pick the recommended Hackintosh parts, you'd still be able to use OS X with certain tweaks. Not to mention you can use it side by side with Windows. You can start your journey here http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page and join the relevant community. It's full of tutorials, videos, lists with compatible hardware, etc. You can PM me if you need any help. It's not hard at all and you're going to save a lot of money.
