If you expected the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to bring more visual changes to the desktop, you’re probably a little bit disappointed, so themes continue to remain the easiest customization method even after the release of this new version.
And if you’re in search of new themes that look good on your PC running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the so-called Arc Windows 10 theme is at least worth a chance.
As you could easily guess just by reading its name, especially if you’re a Linux user, the Arc theme has its roots on Linux (where it's available as a GTK theme), bringing a clean and fully flat visual style on Windows 10 devices.
The theme has been posted on DeviantArt by user neiio and requires some additional tools to look exactly like in the screenshot attached to this article, including OldNewExplorer to disable the ribbon and the up arrow, Classic Shell or StartIsBack (these two are optional, but they bring a more familiar interface to the Start menu).
To install third-party themes on Windows 10, you first need to patch system files using UxStyle (creating a restore point before that is recommended, but the chances for something to go wrong are quite small).
Once you patch system files with UxStyle, copy theme files in Windows > Resources > Themes and double-click the INF file to apply it. To remove the theme, you can simply return to the default visual style and remove files from the aforementioned folder.
