Windows 10 1803 is seeing no end to drama as every RTM candidate appears to be plagued with issues. Following the release of Windows 10 Preview Build 17133 which was supposed to be the release to manufacturers build, Microsoft had to send another build to Insiders on the Fast ring as the previous one would have resulted in more BSODs.

Now it appears the latest Windows 10 Preview 17134 is dealing with its own issues. Build 17134, which is currently being tested by the Fast ring Insiders, is experiencing problems with the Settings app. Every time a user tries to change default apps in Settings, the entire app ends up crashing.

If you are a Fast ring Insider currently on the build 17134, you can test this bug yourself by going to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Set defaults by app > Set defaults by app. The Settings app should crash when you click on the Set defaults by app.

Windows 10 17134 bug reportedly affects a number of devices

So far the bug has been reported by Insiders running the latest Preview on a number of different systems, suggesting that the issue could be widespread (via WindowsLatest). Those of our readers who are on the Skip Ahead ring and testing the Redstone 5 builds, you won’t be experiencing this issue as it appears to be plaguing only build 17134 and in some cases 17133.

Microsoft is already 9 days late as the upcoming Windows 10 version was expected to drop on April 10 to the public. The previous RTM candidate had also been promoted to all the rings, had received cumulative updates and was ready for the public drop when a blocking bug was discovered. If this current bug turns out to be a serious problem that can’t be fixed with a future cumulative update, we will end up receiving yet another fresh build that will just add to the delay.
