    help with changing ip!!!

just wondering if anyone from the uk who use virgin media have had any experience in changing your ip address and how? they only issue dynamic ip's to residential customers (mines been the same since i joined this site ) but they have stupidly long lease's ( i think mines about 2 weeks) apparently the longer your a vm customer the longer the lease you get, so turning off my modem n router is out of the question it could take weeks.

i dont want to come across any problems eg fk everything up and have no net lol or even something to bring me to thier attention ive already had a few tellings off for having 1.3 tb a month total traffic (thats just utorrent lol)

any help from people would be much appreciated.

Maybe we can help each other. :-)

Why exactly are you wanting to change your IP address? You can't "change" it. I think you are under the impression that your ISP with lay off your back if you are assigned a different IPv4 address from them and that is defff not the case. If you are getting harrassed about how much you are using, lie. Tell them you do a lot of gaming/VOIP convenfencing/skype etc. If you are worried about them monitoring what your downloading/uploading.. I suggest setting up a VPN(Virtual Private Network) and going through a proxy. Look into iPredator. You won't be disappointed.

my isp dont get on my back had a lil moan when they throttled me and i complained because of my crazy amount of monthly traffic (and they knew what for i dont hide it), then they apologised and give me faster net and never throttled again we threatened to leave and they gave us upgrade because we are good customers, they dont care what you do as long as they get paid.

anyway i need it to get back into banned trackers proxy is not an option to me cba wit that.
i hear changing my mac address will probably give me a new ip but do i change my router mac (if i can) or do i use a program (tmax or similar) to change my nic mac? and would i need to do that whenever i reformat?
    is it a complicated procedure?

i need someone who has done this before who is sure i dont want to have anyproblems then have no access to the net to find a way to sort my problems

I have never done it before. I know the modem MAC address is what identifies you as their providee. I think tmax is only a program that changes your NIC MAC when its outgoing. I am not sure if it is possible to change your MAC address on your modem and still get what you pay for or even internet service period. Because if you change your MAC address, your ISP won't be able to identify what they should send you in terms of bandwidth or even identify if you are a paying customer. Hope this helps.

Ahhh haaa.. I guess I misunderstood him. If I am not breaking any rules of this forum site... And you can figure out what they ban you by, I might be able to help you. IMO it is unlikely for the private tracker to even obtain your MAC address off your modem and ban you by that.(If they did, all you have to do is get a new modem with a different MAC address on it). If they banned you by IP address, they have programs and ways to fake your outgoing IP. Also, I highly doubt they ban you by NIC MAC address. This can be faked too. (Plus it would be pointless for them to ban one NIC MAC even if obtainable because all you would have to do is log on the site from another computer.) Find out for sure what they ban you by, then you can go from there.

When you "moved" to a new house did you keep the same ISP and hold the same account name? There could be a chance you kept the same IP. If not, then theplace isn't tracking the IP. Did you use the same cable modem in the new house? If not, they aren't tracking and banning by the MAC address on the modem. Have you tried registering on the place on a different computer on the same IP you are getting a banned message from? Try these things.

Well when i registered from a different computer i was able to register, i think it might have been the same provider of the internet that was giving internet to the the new house too, so the ISP could be the same
