J.K. Shin told us some time ago that the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung’s most elite flagship, would bring a “new form factor.” Well, he was right.

According to the latest rumors, the upcoming Samsung flagship, Galaxy Note 4 will boast the flexible display with a new form factor. The YOUM flexible display will be present on the second Galaxy Note 4 model from which customers will get to choose, and it’ll feature a Quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, a 3.2MP front-facing camera, and a 12MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) on board.

The flexible display, as we’re told, pertains to notifications, allowing Galaxy Note 4 users to access notifications even when their phone is turned to the side, for example. The photo supplied says “additional display for quick access,” so Samsung wants to make notification access somewhat easier with its flexible displays. This is an excellent move for Samsung, who’s had a hard time trying to prove that its rich software and neat phone elements have some significance to them in recent days.

Other specs about the flexible Galaxy Note 4 (or the Galaxy Note 4 YOUM, similar in name to the Galaxy K Zoom) include 4K or Ultra HD video recording as well as a dual-tone flash, along with the usual Wi-Fi (now 802.11a/b/g/n/ac), GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, and LTE. It’s been assumed that Samsung would make its Note phablet even larger this year, but we’ve seen leaks that suggest the Note 4 will retain the same display size as last year’s Note 3 (at 5.7 inches diagonally).

While the Galaxy Note 4 YOUM looks to be an impressive model, Samsung will always appeal to the majority of customers. This is why the Galaxy Note 4 YOUM won’t arrive without a regular Galaxy Note 4 model. It’ll have the same-size display as the Note 4 YOUM, but come with an Ultra HD, 16MP rear-facing camera, a 3.68MP front-facing camera, 4GB RAM, a quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, and the usual 32GB or 64GB of onboard memory storage with a microSD card slot expandable up to 128GBs of additional memory. Samsung looks to announce the Note 4 YOUM and regular Note 4 alongside of a new wrist wearable (which could be the standalone cellular data-connected Gear Solo smartwatch) as well as its own Google Glass counterpart or VR headset by mid-September – just in time to rival Apple’s own iPhone 6 announcement.
