Ethan Beard, who left Facebook after its initial public offering in 2012, has found his next gig as entrepreneur-in-residence at venture-capital firm Greylock Partners.

Beard formerly ran developer relations and product marketing for Facebook’s platform.

“My goal is to start a company,” he said in an interview. “This gives me the ability to have a pulse on what Greylock is seeing, to step back and have a broader perspective.”

Other alumni at Facebook, which turns 10 years old today, have gone on to start their own companies. Co-founder Dustin Moskovitz started Asana, a social tool for the workplace, and former Chief Technology Officer Bret Taylor started Quip, which helps people collaborate on projects on their mobile phones.

Greylock, based in Menlo Park, California, has invested in companies including Facebook, LinkedIn and Pandora.
