Sophisticated AV slows down the performance and breaks functionality sometimes. The 0-day viruses are not detected by AV anyway. So I don't think there is much benefit to have sophisticated AV installed other than the very basic to perform a scan on some files you think are suspicious.

The best AV is yourself - Don't expose yourself to the threat. (avoid unsafe sites and files)

Switched from Kaspersky to Bitdefender a few months ago, couldn't be happier with that decision

I tried Avast, Kaspersky, McAfee and Bitdefender.
Bitdefender is by far my favorite!

I just use malware bytes, and make sure the links/files that I open

I use Avast free version for mac. It's literally clean and easy to install and silently working in the background. Only time it disturbs you is when it finds something suspicious and clears it automatically for you! Highly recommend.

Kinda agree the user is the first line of defense but an Anti-virus always help.
