    In response to @KillerRabbit

In my opinion, it is a bold strategy. Tried it myself, but sometimtes it is impossible to evade viruses, especially if you use the internet proactively.
I had Kaspersky but refreshing it was a pain in the ass, however i still think its the best. Now i use Nod32. great web protection, finds malwares quickly AND most important: its fairly easy to renew license with Tnod.

I tried avg/norton/panda but they were not good enough for me.

I warmly recommend ESET NOD32 Antivirus. It is not so intrusive, consumes little resources and does a good job. Take a look at it. It's not free, but it's worth it.

Common sense. It's the best antivirus you can use.
Maybe it's useful have a antimalware like malwarebytes. But i don't think right now it's needed an antivirus program wasting resources.

Voted for Avira. I remember in the passed that it was agressive with detecting a virus.
For now i just use the windows 10 build in real-time protection. It is serving me well and a fast machine for sure..

Kaspersky went out of best trio, but I as I see still keeps its reputation as solid AV.
ESET NOD32 is on top now I guess. As mentioned NOD is not so hungry (like Kasp is) when it comes to hardware resources
Personaly I use only Spybot Search'n'Destroy. For bugs malware and other shit - highly recomend this free app. Also pls donate, great job of it makers, if you like the software.
