Back when I used Windows, I loved avira. Now, with Linux it feels like I don't even need one.

    I like Panda Free AV.
It takes up almost no cpu, and doesn't give me annoying pop-ups, it works for me.

I've tried numerous across many machines but always kept EsetNod on one.

Panda Cloud Free annoyed me after the popups became a nuisance, @BigDoofus I dont know how you
managed to avoid them so I must have missed something, so Panda Cloud comes a close second for me.

I'm not sure, I don't have any pop-ups or advertisements.
Did you check this setting? I pointed a red arrow to it.

Yeah, if memory serves, I don't think I had that setting with the Panda Cloud version.

Have worked in IT for the last 6 years, started residential, now corporate. Have alot of experience with multiple AV's, i'll list some details about each that I know:

Kaspersky: Decent detection/removal, has extra tools that actually (i.e. rootkits). Connection to their update server bugs out frequently however.

Norton: Just no. Resource hog, constantly behind on the latest malware/viruses. Don't recommend at all. Has one or two tools that sometimes works.

Webroot: Easy install, light on resource usage. Also has extra tools that work. Stays current on viruses/ransomware

Sophos: Expensive, but well worth it, especially on any kind of business network. Have managed for small business (5-10 users) all the way to 100+. For residential it's a bit overkill with its options (remote management, by-workstation restrictions, monitoring). Low resource usage. Does interfere with some installs from time to time however.

AVG/McAfee/Panda/Avira/Malwarebytes/Etc..: I honestly don't have anything good to say about any of these. Were once good, kind of niche, however, over time have turned into the nightmare AV's that plague an already overcrowded market. After a certain amount of time passes, and you dont upgrade to their premium version, actual network services will be turned off, over stability declines in everyday usage, ad/popups. Just a mess. STAY AWAY!

Esod: Don't have to much experience with them, seen it here n there. Nothing bad to say, didnt notice anything out of the ordinary.

Spybot S&D: more of a reactive program, with some browser protection. Kind of falling behind nowadays.

That's all i can think of for now!
