Generally you want to stay clear of "tools" (obv afterburner for gfx is fine and well accepted). O/C is something you want to do manually in BIOS yourself; that way you know whats going on, your tracking temperatures yourself and you will be in control all the time through knowledge and understanding. However to do that your going to want to research into the detail. You need to know things like whether or not your CPU is unlocked as this will dictate whether your going to have to play with buss frequency & voltages. Which will of course knock on to you having to balance RAM frequency and voltages. Of course it may mean that anyway... Your also going to need to stress test as you build up your OC; gradually so you don't fry/destabilize.

There is a lot to consider.. I could go through all of this but I lack the time right now. Ill try to give you some of the better resources if I get chance later today.

Tell us about the specs of your hardware...
Overclocking used to be very useful some years ago. Nowadays, all the PCs are so strong, that OC is a useless and risky habit imo...
