Post-launch PC version is "a heavy point of discussion."

Activision and Bungie's heavily marketed shooter Destiny*isn't coming to the PC when it launches on four major consoles on September 9, but that doesn't mean computer players will never*get to*try the MMO-inspired title.

Speaking to Polygon at E3 last week, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said that an eventual PC port is "something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is." While Hirshberg wasn't ready to make any announcements regarding a PC version, he went on to say it was "a heavy point of discussion."

Hirshberg hinted that a lack of resources and the relative difficulty of PC development might be to blame for the initial console focus for the title. "You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality."

Back in November, Bungie Community Manager Eric Osborne expressed a similar sentiment to IGN, saying Bungie didn't want to "spread ourselves so thin that it negatively harms the other platforms" by working on a PC release alongside four console versions.

"It’s a huge challenge to ship four platforms and a massive opportunity to reach a new audience," Osborne said at the time. "We know there are a lot of people out there asking for PC and we know that there are a lot of gamers that would willingly give us money, but what we have to do is make sure we’re focused enough to bring a good experience to any platform that we ship on."
